A photo of the first Raymond Island "fire truck". It consisted of
an old car chassis with a trailer coupling at the front, and a 44
Gallon drum on chains at the back. David thinks it started it's life
in the late 40's.It used to be housed at Billy Brown's place ( he was
the fire officer ) Billy would lend it to people so they could
replenish their water supplies from a water tower near the old ferry
landing ( now our launching ramp ) David does not think that the
furphy was ever used " in anger " , but he could be wrong.
